Singin' in the car and remembering summer at the beach !

I loved these photo of my younger kids singing in the car on their was to the annual Santa Parade I have never got round to scrapping them but Mark pointed out that the rate the months are flying by soon it will be that time ao year again! So I thought I'd get a move on and scrap them!
I began by basing my LO on the Sketchy Thursdays guest DT sketch for July. I rotated the sketch and added my photos but then I got a bit !?! carried away and kept adding more and more of my own elements that I'm afraid the finished LO does not look a lot like the sketch. I hope that you can still see the sketch hidden in there though. The other part of the challenge was to include inspiration from two out of three pictures. I chose to base my colours on the ice block photo and my title on the yummy looking cherries:)
The papers that I used are from the bright and vibrant Crate Paper "Emmas Shop" collection and I misted my background using my new Tim Holtz Colour Wash spray inks. If you haven't tried these you should. The colours are really strong and bright, but you can water them down for a more subtle effect. Scotty Craft have a good range of colours new in store :)
My second LO is baed on the current colour palate over at Colour Combo's Galore. I love the soft beautiful blue and kraft colours together. I found these photos of Benji at the beach this summer and wished that it was summer again (winter has only just begun and already I miss those long, hot summer days, sigh!!!). I made the background with my 6 year old daughter. She was playing at dying paper with coloured water and a straw. She blew bubbles throught the straw and dabbed her paper on the froth to make 'bubble' prints. I thought they looked so cool that I made my own version! The rest of the papers and most of the elements are from the fantastic 5 and Dime collection from October Afternoon.

Hi Sarah - loving both layouts!!! I do see the sketch and I wish you luck with the DT challenge. I entered it too. Wouldn't it be awesome if we were two of the top 5?????? The colours are awesome and i LOVE all the extra bits you added.
