Coconut Shy

At the weekend greenhithe Primary school held its annual fair. There were lots of bargins to be had and fun things to do. My 19 year old son Jaime went along with us and his girlfriend. He spotted a friend running the coconut shy and decided to have a go at winning a coconut. Now the two children in front of him (around 6 years old) both won so the pressure was on him big time! First hit missed, second hit missed but his 3rd hit smacked into the target and the coconut was his. He was very relieved and proud of himself.
I wanted the LO to be fun and I also wanted to try a masking tecnique that I had read in a magazine recently for the title. I first sprayed my background using the cogs and wheels mask and brown spray ink. Then I adhered some old letters to spell out coconut for my title (the colour doesn't matter as you will be removing them). I stamped over my letters and background design ramdomly with a grid patterned stamp. Finally I outlined the letters using a black gel pen before peeling off the stickers and discarding them. I really like the effect but next time I think I will adhere the letter stickers before spraying and masking the background then my letters will be pure white and will 'pop' better I think.
I used a sketch from a new challenge blog that I stumbled across to base my LO on. It is called Sassy Scrappers (http://www.sassyscrappers1.blogspot.co.nz/). The rest of my paper are a mix of OA 'Sassparilla' and MME. I added the little cluster to the upper left corner because I wanted to include the photo of the coconuts all lined up at the shy, and this was a great wa to do that.

Yep! Like your inky bg title idea, ...I agree, tho, would be better 1st. I did some ink spritzing with red artists pigmented ink [can't wait to get more 'real' misting-ers!!] and did some masking today too...a LO for SB mem mag...well, trying to get into it again, anyway! It was FUN:):) I'm hoping to buy some real masks,too...I just cut up cardboard or use chippies ATM. This hobby is getting expensive...but it's great:):)
