We're Home!!!!

We got home last night after a 24 hour delay at LA airport - Our flight was cancelled due to mechanical problems and the earliest United Airlines could re-schedule the flight was a full 24 hours later. Apparently all the hotels in LA were full so they couldn't offer us a room and all 300+ passengers from the flight had to sleep on the transfer lounge floor!!!!
Apart from this though the trip was amazing. We loved San Francisco and would love to one day go back and spend longer in this awesome city. London was really cool - Benji's highlight was the underground trains!!! We got to spend precious time with my mum and although it broke my heart to say goodbye to her I am so glad that we were able to all make the trip to be with her. Disney was a huge highlight. Sophie was in heaven and spent all the time she could chasing princesses around, collecting their autographs and posing for photos. The older kids loved all the rides - especially the big ones at California Adventure Park and they even dragged me onto the 'Hollywood towers' ride (one of the scariest experiences of my life!!). We visited Universal Studios and did a tour of LA.
I took over 4000 photos - a lot of which will feature in my pages over the next few months no doubt!
Whilst I was overseas I took an International Smash Book with me. Each evening I journalled about our day and scrapped a page or two - leaving room for photos to be added at a later date. I am so pleased that I did this because now I have a completed record of our trip and all I have to do is print out and add the photos at my leisure. Above is my first completed page - there are many more to come! I used  a Studio Calico 6x6 'Abroad' Patterned paper book to add detail to my pages. The colours of this collection work really well with the colours in the Smash book. I also bough a packet of Kaisercraft Travel Themed 'Miscellany' (from the "Check In" collection) to spice up my pages. as I had very limited supplies with me I had to 'make it work' and it was really quite freeing not to have to deliberate over which of my products to use!
Off to do yet another pile of washing - the suck part about going on a trip!!! and to light the fire (can't believe that 2 days ago the temp in LA was 35 degrees and now we are back too Auckland's 8 degrees!)
