New Month, New Challenges !!!

Love the beginning of the month with all the fresh challenges out there to tempt us scrapaholics! Check out the November challenges at Purple pumpkin and Stuck! Here are my takes for their design teams.
First 'Stuck':

This is such a cool sketch to work with. I chose one of my recent favourite photos of Benji. We were at a Japanese restaurant celebrating my older son, Chris's birthday. All the big kids were using chopsticks and Benji insisted that he was going to try them out too. He was remarkably persistant and when the waiter gave him a specially adapted pair of chopsticks - attached together with an elastic band around the tops - he did a great job!
I used up a heap of scraps for this page from a variety of manufacturers including Pink Pailee and Heidi Swapp. I used my chevron masks again - I don't seem to be able to scrap without these right now :) and ofcourse a few strips of Washi tape. The wooden clock is from scrapware and the flowers are all Prima.
Check out the other DT members takes on this sketch - they are stunning! Then hop along to Purple Pumpkin and check out their November sketch. Here is my take on it :

Another great sketch eh?? I shrunk it down and used the sketch for my main focus adding a few elements opposite the main photo to balance out the page.
This photo was a spur of the moment snapshot when my two kids were cuddling together on the lazyboy chair. They looked so comfortable and happy together.  I so hope that they remain this close all their lives!
I sprayed and inked my background -I made the strips of half-chevrons along the top and bottom of the page by inking through my chevron mask. It gives a really cool effect (I had intended to use black chevron washi tape but found that I had run out!  My papers are American Crafts 'Shoreline' - I picked up a little 6x6 book at Warehouse Stationary recently because I just LOVE the colours and they co-ordinate so well with my OA and my Pink Paislee collections :) The buttons and twine are from Purple Pumpkin as is the cute crocheted doily.
Enjoy all the new challenges out there and have a great November :)
