New Look Bedroom

This one is for the current challenge over at CSI. Here are the criteria:

OK I have to admit when I first saw these colours I was not too inspired to try them out. They are so not the usual brights that I use. But when I saw some of the awesome creations done by the CSI design team I was inspired to have a go.
I knew that I wanted to include a lot of journaling on this one to explain my photos so i designed the page with this in mind. I had recently read a magazine artical about embossing and I was itching to try out this tecnique on my background. I used sequin waste as a mask and using Versamark ink I inked over the sequin circles. I carefully removed the 'mask' and covered the area with bronze embossing powder, shaking off the excess. I heat set the powder to give this effect. It is really cool as it gives a little more dimension and texture to the page.
From the evidence list I chose woodgrain, buttons and lamp/lantern (my stamped streetlight). For my journaling I chose to document a (new) favourite room. This topic was so perfect for me this week as we have just spent the weekend ripping up old carpet to reveal the original polished floorboards in our master bedroom. The transformation of the room is amazing - it is now my favourite room in the house:)
Oh and do check back at the challenges over at CSI during December because guess who is going to be a Guest Designer for the month?? I am so excited to have been asked !!!! - thanks Debbi :)

Great page Sarah. I love the embossing. We had a similar experience in our house. There were lovely floorboards under most of the carpets except for the dining room where the previous owners had had a go at sanding them and made a dreadful mess.
