My husband took this photo of me and my little ones one holiday morning as we lazed in bed. I love these weekend/holiday mornings when we have time just to enjoy being together. I remember times like this with all of my 6 kids and now they are even more special as I know how quickly these years will pass.
The challenge theme at Once Upon a sketch this month is 'weekends'. This photo was a great fit for this theme. The papers that I used here are from the Teresa Collins recent new collections. I really went to town with the distressing on this page - sometimes I just need to tear, ink, spritz and scrunch, it is very therapeutic! I piled up lots of scraps of paper, tags and even packaging to make my photo mat. The 3 of hearts paying card was a great find (our 3 hearts together :) and the tiny little house is my newest purchase from 'Prima' (thanks Scottie crafts!). I cut out the heart doily on my Cameo. I really love this little doily and I have used it a lot on recent pages. Thats the great thing about the Cameo once you have purchased your design (for 99c or less usually) you can use it over and over again as often as you wish!
Now for a close up of that gorgeous circle frame:
It is manufactured by 2Crafty chipboard. I painted it with the new Tim Holtz distress paints (they are so easy to use, dry quickly and make a perfect finish!). When the paint had dried I lightly rubbed silver metallic paste over the edges to give it a distressed look and inked the perimeter. Finally I coated the whole frame with clear crystal kindyglitz and attached it to my photo.
I journaled on the journaling card and also added a bit more detail for my cildren to read in later years on a tag slipped underneath the photo.
Hope you have time to try out this one yourself.
