Lombard Street

I have been meaning to do a page about Lombard Street ever since we got back from San francisco last year. When I saw this mood board over at 'Scrap Around the World' I thought of these photos and decided to have a go a tackling them. I was inspired by the colours on the board as well as the travel theme.
Here is the sketch that goes along with the mood board:

I was inspired by the sketch but didn't adhere too closely to it. I replaced the single photo with three. I draped ink-sprayed muslin under the photo block instead of the strips on the sketch (I wante to mimic a cloud-like effect to match my background paper. The paper that I used is Studio Calico's 'The Pier' collection. Once I started to cut out and play with the hexagon elements I couldn't seem to stop and ended up layering them accross my page. I shortened the banner element so that it wouldn't be 'too heavy' on my page and added lots of journaling as I had a lot to say about these photos :)
Here are a couple of close-ups:

Thanks for visiting my blog today. Do check out the Scrap around the world blog yourself - there is lots of inspiration to be had over there :)

Gosh, I love this layout! Cool little banner and I love the hexagons. The LO brought back memories of standing at the top of that street at sunset. We had walked up from the pier because the tram queue was an hour long! Lombard St was about half way up. Just about killed me! :)
