I am loving the challenges over at Helen Tilbury's new challenge blog 'Scrap Around the World'. To be honest though, when I saw this sketch I thought that I would probably not be brave enough to participate this month ( I am not very comfortable cropping my photos into shapes and I really admire those amazing scrapbookers who can pull this off fabulously). Then I looked more carefully at the amazing DT examples and realized that I would not have to use circle photos, I could incorporate the circles in other ways.
So I got to work with my sprays and masks to create a unique background. I hand-drew the circles, coloured them in with ny gelatos, then placed a mask over the top of each circle and added a pattern using a darker gelato colour through the mask.
The mood board inspired my colours - I love the coral and green on the cake, and the bling inspired the confetti that I sprinkled on to complete my page.
I chose this photo of me and Benji which I took this week with my iphone. I felt that the page needed a strong close up photo that would stand out from the fussy background. I love having my little man all to myself in the afternoons before school pick up and I am dreading the day that he starts school next year :( I thought that I would journal these feelings now so that Benji will always know how much these special moments meant to me.
Check out the title - it is another awesome 2Crafty chipboard phrase. I painted it with black distress paint and sealed with dimensional magic to give it an enamelled look. The chevrons and arrows are also 2crafty products which you can check out here:
Hope you are having a great week and thanks for stopping by my blog today :)
