Totally Obsessed

I loved the colour challenge at Life, Paper, Scrapbook this month. The colours are so bright and fun - perfect for photos of kids at play!

I have had this photo of benji with his huge collection of Thomas trains in my 'to do' pile for a very long time. This challenge was the perfect opportunity to cross it off my list. I sprayed the background with blue, red and yellow dylusions spray ink through a mask. I allowed the wet ink to dribble down to the bottom of my page to give the 'dripped paint' effect. My photo is an unusual size - 11 1/2 x 4" which is perfect to show off the line of trains, but left a lot of 'background clutter' in the picture. I solved this problem by using a large journaling card as my title and overlapping it onto the photo.
Check out this cute chippie train from 2 crafty

it was the perfect embellishment for the page. I painted it with red distress paint and stamped a checker board pattern over the dry paint using gelato pens. Finally I inked around the edges, and added black buttons to the 'wheels'. The filmstrip is also a 2Crafty product. I cut it in half lengthwise to use above and below the photo. It also doubles as a track for the train!

Thanks for visiting my blog today :)
