He's still my baby!

I had a little free time last week so I combined the gorgeous mood board challenge at Scrap Around the World with this fabulous sketch at Sketchabilities.

The mood board really made me think of lazy summer beach days and this photo that my daughter took of my son Jaime and I at a local beach on New Year. I don't  get many one on one photos with my older sons so this was a bit special and deserved a special layout.
I had a lot of fun with the background - spraying and masking. I used some washi tape and gesso to get the faint newsprint effect on the kraft cardstock. I piled on papers, Crate paper frames, a doily, Studio Calico journaling cards and other bits and pieces to make an interesting mat for my photo. I love the look of muslin on beach themed pages so I added a muslin bow - hey and look I even added flowers!!! (3 of them!).

For the stitching effect I was going to use my sewing machine but it refused to co-operate (time for a new on I think) so I dug out this old zig zag stamp and used that instead. It was so much easier than machine sewing and I really like the look too!

Have a great week whatever you are doing - enjoy the sunshine and the summer holidays if you are here in NZ.
