I Heart You

When I saw that the new word at 'Bird is the Word' is 'Heart' I thought of this photo that I printed a few weeks ago and had pinned to my inspiration board. Natalie and I had just returned from a girlie shopping spree and were modelling our new clothes. My husband snapped the photo and I really liked it. Natalie is definitely my 'mini-me'. She looks a lot like me and shares a lot of my personality (the good parts ofcourse).
I used up a sheet of background paper that I had received as a blog hop prize. It is 'Prima' Specialty paper and is very beautiful. I used up a lot of trims along the bottom of my page and the large flower I handmade from very a course calico-like material. I used my Tim Holtz 'Tattered Florals' die to cut out the flower. Then I covered it with mod podge and used a hair dryer to speed up the drying time and enable me to gently roll the petals as they dried. To make the flower centre I put a dollop of mad podge into the centre of the flower then coiled string around in a spiral shape, sticking it down to the mod padge as I wound. I loved the result so much that my daughter and I spent a happy hour making more of these flowers for future use :)
