Mummy Look Dreams do Come True!!

My little girl had wanted a digital camera for months. When her 7th birthday arrived she was ecstatic to receive not only a kiddie camera but a cam-corder as well. The expression on her face says it all - but it was her words that touched my heart. I knew that I wanted to quote her as my title on this page. Before I started to ink my background I spelled out the word 'Look' with large alphabet stickers (the colour doesn't matter as you are going to peel them off later). I then sprayed my mists, stamped with my new TH texture stamps (turning out to be a very good buy lol), and embossed. I wanted the page to have a magical feel about it so I decided to incorporate stars into my background. I used a stencil to position and draw them lightly in pencil, then I painted them using perfect pearls powders and water. To do this I simply spritz water onto the star and painted with a damp paint brush dipped directly into the dry powder. I purposely didn't paint neatly as I wanted a water-paint effect. The result is a beautiful translucent shimmery colour - it does not show up well when photographed unfortunately. I cut smaller stars from patterned paper and attached them to the centres of my painted stars. I taped only the middle of the star so that I could roll and bend the edges for a textured look.
My main photo is framed with my new passion - Heidi Swapps instamatic polaroid frames. They are so cool. If you haven't seen these then you really need to check them out! The rub-ons and stickers are all part of the frame package!
Anyway, when I finished my background I peeled off the alpha stickers to reveal the word 'look' in white. I added paper strips (lots of left-overs from several manufacturers) as a mat for my photos and spelled out the rest of my title with an assortment of alpha stickers. I adhered the cute butterfly and butterfly tag (Kaisercraft Tigerlily collection) then I felt the need to doodle around everything with my new Tinm Holtz distress pens :)
The word 'look' is part of the current challenge at 'Bird is the Word' so this page is perfect for that. I think that the finished result is a little too busy maybe, I'm not sure that I love it but I did have a lot of fun playing whilst I made it and I guess that is what counts. I am a bit of a procrastinator and when I am not completely happy with a page I will go back to it, adding and taking away elements for days if I allow myself to do that - so I am announcing that this one is officially done and dusted and I will move on to the next page - really I will .......
