Fire lighter

When I saw the colours this week at 'The Color Room' I immediately thought of roaring winter fires and this photo of my son Jaime lighting our first fire of the winter season a few weeks ago. I was originally planning to use plain cardstock for my background but when I caught sight of this 'chair' print paper from October Afternoon it reminded me of the big wooden chairs that you often find in stately old mansions, next to the open log fire. I decided to go for it and it certainly makes for an interesting background - what do you think??
I splodged red and orange ink over the page to mimic flames. The rest of my papers are scraps left over from my 'Kaisercraft-Tigerlily' papers. The black flourishes are old transparencies that I have had in my stash for years (I am so happy yo have finally used them lol) and the flowers and bling are 'Prima'. I finished off the page by machine stitching around my photo cluster and also areound my journaling cluster to balance the page :)

It's so strange to me, that you are in the beginning of winter, and we are beginning summer here! Definitely loving that it isn't winter here, lol!! Love your layout, the chair paper is perfect, so are your red/orange "flames." Awesome layout, as always!

I think you nailed this color challenge- the fire idea is great. I do love the background paper and your thought behind using it. And of course I love your splotches- you do amazing things with mist, love it.

Whoa! This is really cool! Loving that chair background, and the photos are really neat. Love all the textures and the paint splats that look like flickery fire.
