Check out that View

Kinseyaugust

It was such a thrill to see the hollywood sign in the hills when we arrived in LA. It is such an icon - we couldn't believe that we were actually looking at it in 'real life!'. This sketch from Studio Calico was great for scrapping these photos of myself and my youngest daughter. My older daughter Natalie took the photos and she could hardly hold the camera still she was so excited! (at 15 she is movie and celebrity crazy!)
The scenery was very dusty and hot so I tried to reflect that in my colours whilst also blending them into the photo colours (why oh why did I dress Sophie in hot pink that day!!!!)Anyway, I cropped off most of Sophie's dress and I think that I made it work. I love the rusty hinge distress ink that I have used on my paper edges and my butterfly. My papers are ofcourse, Studio Calico - a mix of their fantastic travel themed line 'Abroad' and 'Take Note'. I have used lots of misting and masking, distressing and machine stitching over the whole page. Strips of patterned paper ground my photos. I divided my scenic photo 2/3rds from the right hand edge and placed my portrait photo on 'pop dots' between the two portions of the scenic photo. This gives the impression of one long landscape photo stretching behind my portrait photo. I ran the title along the bottom of the page and tucked my journaling away on a Studio Calico journaling tag behind my photos. The cute fabric tagged  paper clip draws attention to the hidden journaling.
