Cutie Pie

There ia a  new challenge is up over at frosted Designs and it is a really easy and fun one to join in with. The challenge is to use embossiing of any kind on your page. I was a bit pressed for time this week so I took the easy way and designed my page on store bought ready embossed cardstock. This cardstock had the hexagonal pattern already embossed on it and all I did was sand over the pattern in a couple of places to really make it 'pop'. Easy eh??
My patterned paper is from October Afternoon and Amy Tangerine. I adhered the large rectangle of yellow polka dot paper then I used a dinner plate to lightly draw a part-circle with pencil. I watered down some gesso and drew it up into an eye dropper, then I traced around my circle with large dollops of the gesso. I held the paper vertically and let large dribbles of paint drip down my page . I really liked how the page was looking at this stage but I still felt that I needed to highlight my circle element more so I machine stitched around the original pencil line with black thread.
I adhered my photo to my page - I snapped this one earlier in the week with my i-phone as Benji and I were meeting Sophie from school. He is wearing her gumboots because he had left his outside overnight and they were full of rainwater. He insisted that Sophie's boots were just fine for him even though they are at least 6 sizes too big and he was waddling along like Donald Duck!! So cute!
I clustered some jounaling cards, and Purple Pumpkin goodies (doily and spotty button) in one corner of my photo and balanced them out with a yellow flower (Benjis current favourite colour - along with pink lol), Purple Pumpkin ticket and Amy tangerine fabric brad. I made the little flag using a sticker and a cocktail stick (I love doing this) and completed the page with a little washi tape, a chippie bird and a thickers title!
If you want an easy challenge have a go at this one. You can make the embossing as simple or as complex as you like and there are great prized up for grabs :)

Sarah - this is great! I love how you used the gesso to highlight the circle. Can't say I've ever used it in an eyedropper before but I will now!
How cute is that photo?!
