Fly

The challenge for 'Scrap the Girls' this month is 'sports or activity photos'. Well anyone who knows my girls will realise that photos of them participating in sport are very few and far between (except for Sophie's annual cross country race which for some reason she does really well in - go figure!). Anyway, since they are both dancers I was all set to do a ballet page when I came accross these photos that I took a couple of weekends ago in our garden. They are not the best quality photos but they really spoke to me - the look of pure delight on Sophie's face is priceless and I love those little bony knees on the main photo, and her little hands gripping the rope as tightly as she can. These are the details of my little girl right now that I don't ever want to forget.
Don't you just LOVE that background paper! It is part of the October Afternoon Woodland Park collection. I bought 4 sheets of it! The little envelope was leftover from my Kaisercraft collections and co-ordinated perfectly with the rest of the OA paper. The butterfly strip peeping out of the envelope was a happy accident.  I intended to cut out individual butterflies from the butterfly paper and I popped the paper strip into the envelope to come back to it later. When I did continue working on my page several hours later I decided that I really liked the way it looked and decided to stich it down there and then!
Did you notice that I used PURPLE on this page? I find purple really hard to scrap with and rarely use it. But one of my favourite scrappers (Chantal Vandenberg) uses purple a lot on her pages and they always look amazing so I decided to bite the bullet and go with it - and I do really like the result (thanks Chantal :))).
Oh, and incase you were wondering where I got that cute yellow heart - it is from Purple Pumpkin, as are the purple mini-doily and the pink polka dot button :)

Oh yes - I love the background paper! It's the first thing I noticed about the page. Gotta love anything October Afternoon!
I really love the way this page has come together - great photos and a fun layout.

Yep, do love that pp...& your envelope! I really like it there...purple IS hard, but I've just finished a purplish one for PP!!!! And I wanted to ask - long as you don't think it's rude, & if you do, you just don't answer - but what do you do with all your LOs? How do you store them? I'm about 'over' albums as they're so bulky & heavy..but what do I do? I should call this comment column 'Dear Sarah', cos I'm always asking advice or ideas from you!!! Sorry....it's just your such a good scrapper!!!!

This is an awesome layout. I love the background sky pp. It's just full of life and fun.
I've got a Sophie (11 years old) who sounds very similar to yours. Only time you'll see her running is at her school carnival and even then she complains that it was all too hard. My girl is arty and indoorsy. LOL
