KIU and Scrapfriends challenges

The January challenge at Kraft it Up is a colour challenge. look at these happy, summer colours - aren't they gorgeous! Here is my page for the KIU design team. Since it is mid-summer here in NZ I was going to do a beach themed page but then I happened to snap this photo of my baby boy and his "best friend in all the world" at the kindy Xmas party. I couldn't wait to print it out and scrap it as it is so adorable. Benji is totally besotted with his little friend and runs up to give him a big hug whenever he catches sight of him. Luckily the feelings are reciprocated by Fin :)))
I cut my own starburst shape from spare cardstock and used it as a mask to spray over to get the background effect. The papers and most of the embellies are from the amazing 'Amy Tan'. I used up some old adhesive mesh that I have had in my stash for ages to give it a more 'boyish' feel.

The second page that I have to share today is for the 'Scrapfriends' sketch challenge:

Scrapfriends always have the most amazing sketches and this one is no exception! My daughter set herself a goal of reading 40 novels last year and by the skin of her teeth she made it - finishing number 40 on New Year's Eve. She was so proud of herself that I wanted to do a page for her to commemorate her achievement.  This photo was taken whilst we were watching her brothers' play soccer. She was obviously engrossed in the game (not!!!!) and spent the entire 90 mins huddled in her brothers big hoodie reading her current book.
Anyway I used my chevron mask to spray the bottom chevron border element then used several other masks and inks to complete my background look. My papers are from the gorgeous 'Here and Now' collection by Teresa Collins. These papers are so versatile and their neutral colours seem to match most pages.
Have a great weekend - finally maybe a little time to relax (and scrap?) after all the festivities are over for another year :)
