2Crafty Goodies

Today it is my turn to update the 2Crafty blog and I would love to share some 2Crafty goodness with you. I have three projects to show you crammed full of beautiful 2Crafty chipboard.
My first project showcases a photo of my 20 year old son and his beautiful girlfriend.

The photo was taken on Valentines day so I wanted a romantic feel to the page. I stamped and inked my background and added a punched border to frame the page. I used one of the smaller clocks in the 12x12 clock set  to frame my photo. I achieved the look of rusty metal in the following way. First apply white gesso to the chipboard. Next add a layer of texture paste and allow to dry thoroughly (if you are impatient like me it is fine to speed up things using a hair dryer or heat tool). Ink over the whole shape using Tim Holtz 'rusty hinge' distress ink then add a little black ink for detail. This is one of my favourite tecniques for treating chipboard - it works every time to give a great 'old metal' effect.

I balanced out my photo with another beautiful 2Crafty product - the iron gate. , which I treated in the same way as the clock face. 

I embellished the rest of my page using a variety of 2Crafty flourishes and vines. I used the gorgeous 'butterfly swirl' as the base for my flower cluster. I painted the vine with green distress paint and the flowers with red/pink. I hand painted the butterfly and added a coat of kindyglitz to give it a sparkle. When the paint had dried I inked the flowers with black ink and covered the whole with a layer of dimensional magic for that glazed effect. I added mini pearls to the flower centres as a finishing touch.

I built up my floral cluster with prima flowers and more 2crafty chipboard swirls (Brooke's swirls) which I painted with off-white distress paint and cut up so that I could spread them around the page. The little grass clumps at the base of the gate were a cute finishing touch. 

My second project this month is quite different. This photo of my little man at his first ever recital on-stage had been in my pile of 'to scrap' photos since last year. 

The combination of these gorgeous black and gold papers from Studio Calico and the cool 2Crafty chipboard embellishments were perfect for the colours in the photo. I used several 2Crafty items to matt my photo. Again I used one of the smaller clocks from the 12x12 clock set. I treated it in the same way as for my first layout and cut it in half so that I could use it in two areas of my page - tucked under my photo:

and to balance out the photo cluster in the top left hand side of the layout.

The 2Crafty tabs were perfect tucked between the paper layers above my photo. Again I treated them to the 'rusty metal' technique and added a Studio Calico gold star to the star shaped tab.

The 2Crafty film strip (one of my favourite items) and the 'chicken wire' were also perfect additions to my page. I painted the film strip with black acrylic paint and distressed the chicken wire as above. 

I finished the LO with my title, some journaling and a 2Crafty 2012 chipboard date (which I painted white and inked with black stayz-on ink).

My last page I have already shared with you as I made it for CSI a few weeks ago. It is one of my favourite photos of my daughter, Natalie and my little son, Benji. The 2Crafty title could not have been more perfect for this page! I just coloured the raw chipboard with a brown Copic Marker and coated the whole title in dimensional magic for that gorgeous glossy effect. I love 2Crafty's fantastic collection of titles which suit many pages and projects.

The little chippie bird is also from 2Crafty. I left this one plain as I love the look of raw chipboard and it blended in so well with this colour scheme.
