Painting the Earth

Last week I received a box of beautiful MME papers and I was just hanging out  for an excuse to use them. All my DT projects seemed to be colour based and ofcourse the colours of my new papers didn't match - then I remembered this sketch challenge at 'Scrapfriends'.

Isn't it cool? I flipped it on its side and printed out these three photos of my kids enjoying a school holidays trip to 'Paint the Earth' - a local ceramic painting workshop where you chose your pottery piece and spend a happy couple of hours painting it ! My older girls spent 6 hours on their designs and the little ones happily painted for an hour or two.
All my papers are MME. I tore up some strips to mat the photos and added a layer of gesso to unify all the colours in the strips. I inked the background paper and used my new 'Prima' letter stamp to add a little interest to my design. The squiggle flourish is one of my favourite 2Crafty designs. It adds such a cool finishing touch to the page. I painted it with distress paint then coated it with dimensional magic for that glossy look.

The chipboard arrow that I added to my paper strips is also from 2Crafty. I coloured it with a blue gelato, inked the edges then used an arrow design roller stamp and 'Stayz-on ink' to roll a pattern over the surface.
The chippie buttons (also from 2Crafty) were finished off in the same way - a coat of gelato and ink around the edges.
I handwrote my journaling along the top of the page to match the sketch and added a 'thickers' title to complete the look. Thanks for calling in today :)
