My March Post for 2Crafty

Today was my turn to post on the 2Crafty blog. Here is my post:

February is such a short month! I thought I had ages to go until I needed to schedule this post, then when I checked the calendar it was already March!!!
Anyway, hope you have all had a great start to the year and that I can inspire you in some way with my post.
Here is my first page:

My little boy turned 5 in February and amongst the many gifts that he received were these outdoor toys - a rope swing and hammock. I loved the colours in the hammock and used them to as inspiration for the palate of my page. I used lots of spray inks, stamps and masking tecniques to create a fun background for my fun photos.  The 2Crafty products that I used here are

  • Chevron Pieces
  • 'Cheeky' loopy word
  • 'Sharon's butterflies'

All I did with the loopy word to create an eye-catching title was to give it a coat of black distress paint. Could anything be easier? 2Crafty have a huge selection of words and short phrases in stock so you can find one to complement almost any themed page.

Butterflies are essential to any scrapbooker's stash. The 2Crafty 'Sharon's butterflies' come as a set of 6 in varying sizes. I used my gelato pens to colour my butterflies then coated them with dimensional magic to 'set' the colour. If you love a more sparkly effect try sprinkling a little fine glitter onto the dimensional magic while it is still wet. It will seal in the glitter as it dries.

As a finishing touch to almost any page I can't go past the 2Crafty 'Chevron bits' Here I have painted them black, outlined them with a white gel pen and used them as brackets to emphasise my title.

My second page is another multi-photo page. I have so many photos to scrap that I love incorporating several into a page. These are 'selfies' that Natalie, my 17 year old daughter, took whilst fooling around with her little brother. I couldn't choose my favourites so I scrapped them all!

This page is crammed with delicious 2crafty goodies. Here's what I used:

  • Stars (unit of 3)
  • 'Selfies' loopy title
  • View Finder (unit of 3)
I arranged the stars in a 'visual triangle' using different sizes and a mixture of solid and outlined pieces. I used a' tarnished gold' metallic paste rub-on to colour the stars then added some doodled details using 'liquid pearls'. I added a few clusters of rub-on stars around the chipboard ones to further enhance the starry theme.

The 2Crafty view finders are another favourite of mine. they come in a pack of 3 different sizes. For this page I cut the largest one in half ( so I could save the part that would have been hidden for another page), painted it white, inked the edges then backed the 'windows' with black cardstock to give the impression of film negative. I added a few word sticker labels and a strip of washi tape for a little added interest.

Again I used a chipboard word as my title - this was the perfect word for my page!!! Again I used my favourite technique of painting it black and then outlining the letters with white gel pen. I coated the whole word with dimensional magic to give it a glossy finish.

The last page that I would like to share with you is one that I created for the CSI design team last month, 'Holiday Reads'

Here is the challenge that I based the page on:
I loved how I had photos of all my kids enjoying their books on our summer vacation and I wanted to scrap them all on the same page - hence another multiphoto layout was created!
I inked my background through an 'ABC' mask (from dylusions) which I thought was very appropriate for my theme. All of the chipboard that I have used on this page is from 2Crafty.

  • Palm trees (unit of 3)
  • Chevron bits
  • '2014'

I really love these palm  trees which I coloured using my gelato pens and inked the edges. Gelatos are a great way to cover raw chipboard as they give a full, vivid colour coat without the need for undercoating. Also there are so many shades of gelatos that it is really easy to find the perfect match for your page.

Again I used my chevron bits to draw the eye to my photos, and, yes, again I painted them black and outlined them with white gel pen!
I like to always add the date to my pages and I am alwayd on the look out for interesting and unique ways to do this. I love the 2Crafty 2014 pieces. They make a great finishing touch to any project and they come in a range of sizes and fonts.

Well that all from me for now. I hope that you have a fantastic month and that I have managed to inspire you to get out your 2Craft chipboard and start creating!
